Young man struggling, finds hope, and finds his way…

This month I thought I would share a classic outdoor film showing story. It comes from a report I just received from Ghana in West Africa.

“At Puebla in the Upper West Region, the night of the Jesus Film show was filled with anticipation and hope. As the film concluded, an unexpected figure emerged from the shadows—a man on a bicycle. Looking a little intoxicated, he walked towards us and asked that we pray with him as he wanted to accept Jesus as his Personal Lord and Savior. Without hesitation, we gathered around him and led him to Christ as we lifted him up in prayer, asking God to touch his heart and transform his life.

What happened next was nothing short of extraordinary. As the prayer concluded, the man, now more composed, revealed his true identity—he was the Chief’s son. The entire team was stunned. In a moment of clarity and generosity, he offered to donate a piece of land for the construction of a church in the community. All praise to God!!

Our God has orchestrated many “JESUS” film stories like this over the years. He not only drew this man with personal struggles to Himself, but also one with the means to help provide for a new faith-community.

As a ministry, we have three core measures: people exposed to the gospel, number of decisions for Christ and churches planted or faith-communities established. In this story, the Chief’s son was one lost person, but also like the one in Christ’s parable [of the 99] who we are called to go look for. He is one who the Spirit drew, and is one that can be included as having had a part in all three measures. Again, glory to God!
