Stories from film and church planting teams come in from Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, the Americas and the Middle East every month. They tell of how our God is moving and drawing people to Himself. Here’s one from rural Africa.
There’s a remote village in Africa where an ancient tree stood, the locals regarded it as a demon tree, the home of a snake. People feared the tree; the witchcraft and demonic activity it represented. If a branch fell, no one dared touch it or go near it.
A day came when a team of people arrived with the film “JESUS.” The people heard Jesus speak the Word of God to their hearts. And they witnessed His power over demons. Many believed.
Then the Shocking News…
The next morning after showing “JESUS,” the people discovered that the entire demonic tree had fallen! The snake was gone—proof to the people of Jesus’ power. They built a church right next to where the demon tree had stood.
A few months later, another “JESUS” film team arrived to see how the church was doing. They were growing rapidly, in numbers and in faith. And the team saw a curious pile of useless branches and wood 20 feet away from the church. It was the demon tree, cut into pieces and left to rot. This is the power of the gospel, the work of teams, and the result of the prayers and partnership. To Him goes the glory and praise!
This report of God’s power reminds me a little of the Bible story in 1 Samuel 5 when God broke down the idol of Dagon in the temple at Ashdod. This is the same God you and I serve today!
