One of the great benefits of attending our Cru25 Staff Conference last month was the opportunity to network and meet colleagues from across the country, and even the world.
Jesus Film has national Regional Strategy Leaders in seven continental areas of the world. Prior to Cru25, I had met five of our leaders, and last month I was able to meet the other two; Pedro Pinto (Latin America) and Kyungsoo Oh (East Asia). Since our team helps fund the outreach and church planting efforts of these areas, it is important for me to connect with these leaders periodically.
Pedro has been guiding our efforts for the Latin and Caribbean areas for nearly three years. He is from Argentina. My good friends with Bill and Stacy Prescott, who are Cru staff at Louisiana Tech U. and are working to reach international students. They have four grown children now, and at one point in their Cru career, they spent five years serving reaching students in Argentina. I was Stacy’s first boss with Cru back in the early 1980, so we have some good history. It is always a joy for me to reconnect with them at these conferences.[ Pictured above is Pedro, Bill and me.]
I wanted to feature Pedro here, because since the conference he has been dealing with some serious health issues. His doctors have detected lymphoma and an aggressive tumor in his abdomen. A biopsy is determining the specific type and help guide them towards starting the chemotherapy treatment to eradicate it.
We know that God is going before him [and them], that He can be fully trusted, and He is sovereign even in the midst of this challenging journey.
Please join in praying for Pedro and his family for:
- Healing; both physical and spiritual strength.
- Wisdom for the doctors and medical team.
- Quick approval from insurance for the costly treatments.
- Comfort, provision and peace for his family throughout the process.
Thank you for joining in lifting him up. Also, please pray that the Spirit of God would give him, [and them] the strength of Christ.
PRAISE:
- Thank you for your prayers and support for my Cru25 Staff Conference. It was spiritually refreshing, and I had opportunities to connect up with a number colleagues who I had never met in-person. And I saw God provide fully for my financial needs.
- My week’s staycation saw the completion of two outdoor house projects that I have needed to do for a couple of years.
PRAY:
- Please continue to pray for the two staff positions I need to fill: an online acquisition and social media specialist and a data analytics, finance and production manager. I am awaiting approval to move forward; pray that can happen this month.
- Several work projects for the fall are in production, pray as they need to be completed this month. Pray for the formalizing of plans to produce additional language versions of our classic “JESUS” film for online evangelism through YouTube; 50-100 are needed in the next year.
