On Saturday, I asked our Jesus Film Project Regional Strategy leader in the Middle East what could we be praying for for his region right now. This is what he shared:
“Here are three key prayer points for this week and beyond:
- For the Church and Believers — Pray for protection, perseverance, courage, and spiritual unity among believers, including those in house churches and underground fellowships.
- For Peace and Restraint — Pray for wisdom and restraint among national leaders, and that the Lord would guide negotiations and prevent further escalation, bringing peace to the nation and region.
- For Gospel Opportunity — Pray that hearts across Iran would be open to Christ’s peace in this time of uncertainty, and that the Lord would open doors for Gospel witness, discipleship, and spiritual breakthrough.”
Please join me in praying with him, his family and our staff in the region. Many of them have had to leave their assignments for safer locations and nations.
The Persian New Year, Nowruz, is a celebration each spring and is March 20 this year. It is an ancient festival of renewal that dates back 3000 years. Old Testament, prophecies of Jeremiah include some for modern day Persia and declare restoration and renewal. Let’s pray for such a potential outcome in 2026:
“Yet I will restore the fortunes of Elam in days to come, declares the Lord.”
Jeremiah 49:39 (NIV)
“I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand.
I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles,
Isaiah 42:6 (NIV)
