Hai lay in his bed, helpless. Gout had prevented him from walking for years. He and his wife, Chau, had spent much of their money on hospitals, doctors and even spirit healers who called on demons. None provided a cure.
Chau happened upon a Christmas event at a local church, where the Southeast Asian Church Multiplication film team was showing JESUS. She saw the scenes of Christ healing people with all sorts of ailments—including those unable to walk.
“I saw a movie that Jesus can heal the lame man and he can walk,” Chau told her husband when she got home. “If you believe in Jesus Christ, maybe you can be healed and you can walk also.”
The next morning, the couple called the pastor who had hosted the showing at the church. They told him they wanted to follow Jesus, so the pastor prayed for them and encouraged them to accept Christ’s open invitation to follow Him. Chau and Hai agreed, and one week
after the pastor’s prayer for them, Hai could walk! Now Hai and Chau’s home is a house
church for their village, and their entire family worships Jesus.
“If the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is
the new way, which makes us right with God!”
