A few weeks ago I received this report It comes from a partner using “JESUS” to reach people in a remote part of a country heavily influenced by indigenous beliefs. God is working, overcoming the dark powers of this world and His kingdom is reaching to the ends of the earth.
Here’s the partner’s report:
“If you remain in me, you will bear much fruit.” This was a promise Jesus made to us: if we remain in Him, we will bear fruit.
Our dependence on Christ, our faithfulness in proclaiming the Gospel, our passion, and our intentionality in going and proclaiming are not an absolute recipe for success. But they are part of what we understand to be the role of a missionary: to go, to faithfully proclaim the Word, to do so intentionally, and to eagerly wait for the fruit — just as a farmer waits for the fruit of his harvest.
Last week, we had an evangelistic outreach in a village that is very difficult to reach. It is located south of Isoxnxlx* in a mountainous region, full of rocks, difficult roads, and many dangers.
A year ago, the Jesus Film was shown in this village, and doors were opened for us to return. So, we came back with the Jesus Film and carried out another evangelistic outreach. Our partners stayed there for another four or five days, continuing to share the Gospel through the Jesus Film.
And, to our great joy and surprise, 120 people decided to follow Christ! They burned their witchcraft as a testimony of their repentance. Halleluiah! (See picture above.) This is why we do missions.
We do missions because of the manifestation of Christ’s glory: His glory, His honor, His love, His goodness, His compassion, His mercy, and His salvation for all peoples.
We go, we proclaim, and we trust Him. And when the fruit comes, all the glory belongs to Christ.
