Hosted by Cru ® Global Church Movements (GCM), in partnership with Jesus Film Project®, leaders trained Christians from indigenous people groups in Ecuador to share the gospel effectively in an oral culture. Part of the training involved the use of tablets that contained clips from JESUS.
Before he left, Milton’s daughters asked why he was going so far away for the training. When he told them about the film, they said to him: “Bring it home. We will show it in our home with all of our neighbors. We will have a party with all of our relatives.”
For Milton, the trip for the training was anything but easy. He traveled with three other men from his tribe. They paddled downriver in their canoe before taking a car to the bus stop. After three hours on the bus, they finally arrived in the city where the training took place.
But the training was worth the journey. Milton and the other attenders learned how to show JESUS on a tablet to start spiritual conversations. With the tablet and speakers in a backpack, Milton made the hazardous journey home. He left the training with a renewed desire to share Christ with his tribe.
That spark grew into a flame. In the six weeks following the training, Milton used his tablet equipment set to show JESUS to more than 100 people, and more than 20 people began following Jesus! Two new groups of Christians are meeting regularly as a result.
TOGETHER, WE HELP PROVIDE equipment like tablets. GCM hosted the training, Milton made the journey and God produced the fruit. Through the faithfulness and support of His followers, God is drawing more people to Himself.
“How, then, can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they
believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without
someone preaching to them.”
