Usually, I am writing about some far-reaching place in East Africa or Southeast Asia. But today I want to share about a version of the JESUS Film for reaching a people right here in America. On September 12th the ministry premiered the “JESUS” film for the Amish.
Although the Pennsylvania Dutch speaking Amish are concentrated in Pennsylvania—about 285,000—they are spread over 30 states. Recorded in April, this new dialect will now help reach Amish Americans which total 400,000.
Since many Pennsylvania Dutch speakers live in close-knit, isolated communities, our team was so encouraged by the turnout at the premiere. 110 people attended, including many who had recently come out of the Amish community. [See picture above.]
After the showing, one older gentleman with a long white beard approached our team and said with deep conviction, “This is the real thing!” He then shared that he wants to take the film into Amish barns and homes so others can experience it too.
Please join us and praying that this new film will help bring the story of Jesus in the heart language of a people we might otherwise have difficulty reaching.
